RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech forward Kathryn Sloan was selected to the 2016 Academic All-District VI First Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

This marks the third straight year Sloan has earned academic all-district honors. In doing so, she automatically advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team ballot. Last season she was honored as being an Academic All-America third team selection.

The senior Sloan continues to carry a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average while majoring in Communication Arts and Design.

On the pitch, the Kansas City, Missouri native has helped LA Tech to a 13-4-1 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Conference USA which is good enough to send the Lady Techsters to their third straight league tournament.

Sloan played a crucial role in the process once again, scoring the golden goal in double overtime this past Sunday to defeat UAB and clinch the team's berth with still two games left to play in the regular season.

She currently leads the team in points (22), goals (eight) and assists (six), ranking in the top five in all three categories in C-USA.

Sloan has totaled 87 points and 35 goals during her stellar four-year career, both of which are program records.

The academic all-district teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-District Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
