RUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" Louisiana Tech showcased its passing skills on Wednesday night which resulted in a goal in each period to help down FIU, 2-0, at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.

The win ended a two-game losing streak while also marking win No. 10 on the season for LA Tech (10-3-1, 2-2 C-USA), the seventh time the program has reached double-digit victories under head coach Kevin Sherry.

"It was a great team effort to get our first ever win over FIU," Sherry said. "The first half display was probably the best soccer I have seen our team play. FIU pushed us hard in the second half and I am proud of how we stood strong as a team. It was a great win on a great night."

Much like the last match, the Lady Techsters got on the scoreboard before the clock struck double digits. It came in the ninth minute when Lisanne Kleygrewe made a quick turn and chipped the ball over the backline of FIU (2-8-2, 1-3-1 C-USA) who were caught off guard by a charging Madison Doll.

Doll was able to stay controlled and dribbled around the opposing keeper with a finish into the open net for her second goal of the season.

LA Tech maintained much of the possession throughout the rest of the first period, totaling 12 shots.

The Panthers challenged more for the equalizer in the second period, generating 10 shots, but none were able to find the back of the net.

In the 70th minute is when the Lady Techsters picked up the insurance goal. Jenna Dages received the ball inside the 18 and made a back heel pass to Au'Dresha Spates who was unmarked and delivered a rocket from 14 yards out for her second goal of the season.

LA Tech ended the night with a 19-12 shot advantage. Kathryn Sloan led the way with four shots, followed by very active players in Haley Laque and Annabel Prior who each notched three.

FIU's Alyssa Robinson paced the visiting Panthers with four shots, three coming on goal.

Kylee Seto recorded six saves for what was her 22nd career shutout.

LA Tech continues league play on Friday, Oct. 14 when they travel to North Carolina to face Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
