Dec. 16, 2016 RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech's Kathryn Sloan and Nomvula Kgoale have been selected to the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Teams, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Sloan was named to the 11-person second team as a forward while Kgoale was named to the 12-person third team as a defender.
Sloan, a senior from Kansas City, Missouri, has a perfect 4.00 grade point average while majoring in Communication Arts and Design.
Her other academic awards this season include CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District VI First Team and Conference USA All-Academic First Team.
Kgoale, a junior from Polokwane, South Africa, has a 3.57 grade point average while majoring in Sociology.
She adds to her list of postseason awards this season including NSCAA All-Central Region Second Team, Second Team All-Conference USA and Honorable Mention All-Louisiana.
The two players helped LA Tech to a 14-win season and a third straight appearance in the conference tournament despite being picked 11th in the preseason.
The NSCAA, the world's largest soccer coaches' organization that serves members at every level of the game, was founded in 1941 and is based in Kansas City, Missouri.
