RUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The Louisiana Tech tennis team got back on track Sunday with two shutout victories against Alcorn State and Grambling State at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
LA Tech (6-2) used its depth to deliver a 5-0 win over ASU (0-6) and followed that up with a 7-0 win versus crosstown foe GSU (0-4).
"We had a solid day," head coach Chad Camper said. "I was proud of our intensity and our efficiency on all of the courts. It made for a good end to the weekend."
The Lady Techsters started the day by taking the doubles point from the Braves with a 6-0 victory by Meryl Culot and Taly Merker at No. 3 and a 6-1 victory by the duo of Alexandra Starkova and Zoe Chen.
In singles, Manoela Chiacchio made quick work over Laura Arruda, 6-1, 6-0, on court four. Marta Sramkova was not far behind with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court three.
Rounding out the first team match were points from the top two courts. Jazmin Britos bested Aida Kelic, 6-3, 6-3 to remain undefeated on the dual season and Zoe Chen took down Ivana Boberic at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-1 win.
After an hour break, the Techsters took part in the second match of a doubleheader and picked up exactly where they left off.
Mixing things up, new doubles tandems (Britos/Perny and Chiacchio/Culot) got together and were both winners by a score of 6-3.
To complete the blanking of the Tigers, the Techsters cruised on all courts with straight-set victories by Britos, Sramkova, Perny, Chiacchio and Culot.
Next up for LA Tech is a road matchup against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday, Feb. 17. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
