Opening Statement:

"They have too many shots early, getting into a really good rhythm. The basket got really big for them and made a lot of shots, some easy, but some very difficult. I thought we had moments in the second half where we would chip away, but they had a segment where they went on a run which proved to be too much for us to come back from."

On Merrill Holden getting into foul trouble:

"It was really big. We were trying to apply some pressure to take away the perimeter and the drives. We did a good job of that, but then they punched it inside. They altered their lineup a little bit and Terry [Winn] had a great game. He is a burly guy. He was able to go after some of our guards."

On the late run:

"I am proud of our guys. We could have easily put our heads down and say `this was not our day.' We fought hard to get back into the game. UTEP was playing keep away and we were able to apply some pressure and get some turnovers and make some baskets. I am proud of the team for staying together."

On Derric Jean:

"I think Derric is getting better and better. The entire time has room for growth. For a freshman on the road in this league to have a weekend like this, I think that says a lot about how hard is he working."
