LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana -- Fighting through windy conditions on Tuesday afternoon, Louisiana Tech was able to go on the road and take down regional foe McNeese State, 4-2, at the Nancy Hank Tennis Center.

Since dropping the spring season opener, LA Tech (4-1) has reeled off four straight victories. This one came via the doubles point and three singles wins, pushed its winning streak to four games.

"The team competed at a high level all match on what was a very windy day," head coach Chad Camper said. "Our strategy was to be smart, have strong legs in the wind and just keep fighting and that is what they did. It made the matches difficult, but I am very proud of their heart and devotion to each other."

As has been the case all dual season, the Lady Techsters continue to come out of the gates strong in doubles. The team came in having not dropped one doubles match and that was still the case after the match with McNeese State (5-4).

The duo of Alexandra Starkova and Zoe Chen won, 6-3, on court one followed by a 6-4 win on court three by the tandem of Taly Merker and Manoela Chiacchio.

The Cowgirls fought back though in singles play, tying the match at one-all with Hannah Brett besting Chiacchio at No. 5.

The lead swung back in the Techsters favor though after Starkova took down two-time Southland Conference Player of the Year Klaudia Gawlik by a score of 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1.

Jazmin Britos made it 3-1 in favor of LA Tech as she dominated Giovanna Fioretti, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.

After a second victory by McNeese at the No. 3 spot, it was Alba Escalona Perny who came up with the clincher at No. 6 in a 6-4, 6-4 victory versus Vivien Borbely.

LA Tech returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 13 when they travel to take on C-USA foe North Texas. First serve is set for noon at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
