RUSTON, La. - For Louisiana Tech, this weekend's track and field competition is not a state championship meet but it may have the appearance of one. LA Tech will face nearly every Louisiana-based university in Hammond at the Southeastern Lion Invitational.

Southeastern Louisiana, Tulane, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, UL-Monroe and Lamar are among the Division I competition set for Hammond.

All of this weekend's events will take place Saturday, with the exception of the hammer throw competition on Friday.

Louisiana Tech's Denisha Henix and Janiel McDonald lead the women's long jump competition while Jermey Hicks is one of the top 200m sprinters among the meet's six heats.

Field events on Saturday start with the shot put and javelin at 10:30 a.m. with running events beginning at 1:30 p.m. The 4x100m relay will kickoff the running event schedule and that will wrap up with the 4x400m relay at 6:30 p.m.
