WACO, Texas – Kailtyn Washington,
Oscar Smith and
William Estes won their events, totaling 11 Bulldog top five finishes at the Clyde Hart Classic this weekend.
Washington opened the meet Friday afternoon with a 53.53 meter discus toss, good for first place and a new personal best in the event. It is the sixth furthest throw in women's outdoor program history.
Cobe Johnson rounded out Friday with a fifth place 7.17m long jump.
Saturday morning was productive for the Bulldogs, with
William Estes and
Annie Jones placing first and second respectively in the Javelin. Estes threw a personal best 55.06m while Jones threw a season best 39.43m. It is the second silver finish for Jones this outdoor season.
A'reil Williams jumped 1.70m for another podium finish in the high jump, finishing second place.
Both the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams found success, finishing third and fifth respectively. The men's team of Norre Robinson, Abdulraof Rashid,
Cobe Johnson and
Chevoney Reid ran a time of 41.04 while the women's team of
Sariah Bethley, Azaria Whitehurst,
Havyn Puckett and
Dillon Landry finished with a time of 48.21.
Oscar Smith won his first event of this outdoor season, setting a new season best with a time of 13.56.
In the 100m, two Bulldogs finished top five with
Karo Oghomi finishing second with a 10.35 time and Carl Murray IV finishing fifth with a time of 10.52. Murray IV's time is a new season best for the sophomore.
Brandon Vining set a new season best with a 1:52.46 800m, finishing fourth place.
Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay finished top five. The men's team of
Rickey Williams III, Prentice Sanders,
Cullen Hronek and
Chevoney Reid finished fifth with a time of 3:12.40. The women's team of Osaretin Usenbor,
Jamara Patterson,
Tyhra Charles and
Nia Wiley finished fourth with a time of 3:32.95.
