Mia Adams Named Honorable Mention All-America

June 21, 2016

NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana Tech long jumper Mia Adams received Honorable Mention All-America honors by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after placing 23rd at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

The redshirt senior jumped 19-1.5 (5.83m) to place 23rd in the nation in her first appearance at the national championship meet. She beat Arkansas jumper Kelsey Herman by 4.5 inches. Nebraska's Jazmin McCoy edged Adams by 3.5 inches.

The honor is the 32nd All-America honor Louisiana Tech Track and Field has received since 2010.

The performance by Adams brought the 2016 Louisiana Tech track and field collegiate season to a close. Current and former student-athletes now turn their attention to the various national governing body Olympic Trials leading up to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro later this summer.
