RUSTON ÃÆ'¢Ã¢'¬" The Louisiana Tech soccer team had its seven-match winning streak come to an end on Thursday night as the Lady Techsters fell to Rice, 4-0, at the Lady Techster Soccer Complex.

The Owls, picked in the preseason to win the Conference USA regular season title, registered two goals on two corner kicks in the first half and added two more in the second half as LA Tech (9-2-1, 1-1 C-USA) pressed forward trying to get back into the match.

The first goal for Rice (4-3-1, 1-1 C-USA) came in the 10th minute when Annie Walker delivered a perfect free kick into the six that was headed in from close range by Samantha Chaiken.

The match went to 2-0 for the visitors in the 16th minute when Walker took the team's second corner kick which deflected off a Lady Techster defender for an own goal.

Aside from the two corners, LA Tech was able to limit to Rice to only four total shots in the first half.

The best scoring opportunity for the Lady Techsters came from Olivia Millington who subbed in early in the second half and boomed a ball from 25 yards out on the left clank, but Rice's keeper was able to get a hand on it which then deflected off the crossbar.

Rice later added to its lead in the 76th and 78th minute with goals netted by Darcy Mickalow and Haley Kostyshyn.

Millington ended up registering two of the team's four shots on the match. Suffering the loss in net was Kylee Seto who registered three saves on the night.

LA Tech returns to action on Sunday when they travel to the Lone Star State to take on the reigning C-USA regular season and tournament champion North Texas. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
