Three Lady Techsters Receive League Honors

Oct. 31, 2017

RUSTON ââ'¬" After helping Louisiana Tech to a 13-2-5 overall record in the regular season and a fourth-place finish in the league standings, Nomvula Kgoale, Haley Laque and Gabrielle Clark received Conference USA honors in a vote by the 14 head coaches.

After earning second team honors last season, Kgoale became just the second player in program history to be named First Team All-Conference USA.

The senior midfielder opening the season by being named a conference player of the week in week one and continued her strong play throughout the year.

The versatile Kgoale started in 15 games and registered 12 points on five goals and two assists. Three of those goals came during C-USA play and all three came on beautiful free kicks from 20-30 yards out.

The South Africa native registered her first career multi-goal game at Middle Tennessee, helping the Lady Techsters complete a second-half comeback with a game-winner.

Laque earned her first ever postseason honor, being named Second Team All-Conference USA as a defender.

The senior has been a staple on the back line for LA Tech over the last four years. She tied the program record for career games played (83) in the regular season finale on Senior Night.

She also set the program record for most career penalty kicks converted, netting six with two of those coming this season against Old Dominion and Southern Miss.

The Lafayette, Louisiana native played every minute of the last eight league matches, including three that went the full 110 minutes of double overtime.

For the fourth time in the last five years, LA Tech placed a player on the C-USA All-Freshman Team. This year it was Gabrielle Clark.

The midfielder did not register a point and only took two shots on the season, but she played a vital part in the team's success.

The Nova Scotia native played the most minutes of any freshman (1,112), seeing action in nine of the 10 conference games while starting in six of them.

This trio helped LA Tech qualify for the C-USA Tournament for the fourth straight season, one of only three league teams to do so. They earned the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 seed Old Dominion on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. CT at FAU Soccer Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida.
