SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The Louisiana Tech women's tennis team picked up their second road win of the spring season on Saturday evening, shutting out Incarnate Word, 7-0, at the UIW Tennis Courts.

LA Tech (5-4) won the doubles point with victories on courts one and three and then delivered straight-set wins at all six singles spots to blank UIW (2-6).

"We had a really strong day today," head coach Amanda Stone said. "Doubles started great and Jazmin, Sonia and Haley really took care of their lines in singles. We've been playing great matches on the front end of these long weekends. We've been very close to going 2-0 over the past two weekends but have fallen short on the Sunday matches. Tomorrow, I'd like to see us come out with confidence and finish the weekend on a high note."

The duo of Jazmin Britos and Alba Escalona Perny got things started for the Lady Techsters with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. Clinching the doubles point was Nadja Manjon teaming up with Angela Lorenzo, making her first appearance of the spring, to win 6-0 at No. 3.

The senior Britos then set the tone in singles, downing Matea Zemunik on court one by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Next it was sophomore Sonia Chen who cruised past Victoria Kareh by the same set score on court three.

Clinching the team match for LA Tech was Haley Ballinger at the No. 6 position with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Clarisa Salinas.

Picking up insurance wins were Manjon who notched her first career win playing at the No. 2 spot. Also, senior Marta Sramkova battled back from being down 0-5 in the first set to winning 7-6 (3), 6-3 on court four.

Lastly, Perny won her match at No 5 in what was her third straight singles win.

LA Tech returns to action on Sunday when they travel to San Marcos to take on Texas State. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
