RUSTON ââ'¬" Louisiana Tech sophomore guard Kierra Anthony was named second team all-Conference USA by a vote of the league coaches and media representatives announced the C-USA office on Sunday.

Despite finishing fourth in the 14-team league, Anthony was Tech's lone representative on the 8-peron first team and 8-person second team.

"It's an honor for our program anytime one of our students receives recognition from the league," said Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. "Our team has shown good balance throughout the season and Kierra has been a consistent performer for this group. I am proud of how coachable she has been and the growth she has made this season. Her consistency has helped this team get better throughout the season."

The New Iberia native averaged 13.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 43 percent from the field, 72 percent from the free throw line and 44 percent (48-110) from the three-point line. In Conference-USA only games, she averaged 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 42 percent from the field, 70 percent from the free throw line and 43 percent (29-68) from the three-point line.

Anthony recorded 20 double digit scoring games, including 13 in Conference USA contests with nine of her C-USA performances eclipsing the 17-point plateau.

She ranked in numerous C-USA statistical categories, including No. 1 in three-point field goal percentage, No. 13 in assist-to-turnover ratio, No. 14 in scoring, No. 14 in three-pointers made per game and No. 15 in steals.

Anthony scored 23 points in win over Marshall and a home loss to Middle Tennessee and 21 in an overtime road win at Rice. She hit the game-winning bucket with 5 seconds to play in come-from-behind win over UAB (Tech trailed by 16 points with less than 7 minutes to play). She added 18 points at league champion WKU. Her top non-conference performances included 23 points vs. LSU, 15 vs. Clemson and 14 vs. Auburn.

The league will announced the superlative award winners on Monday.
