RUSTON -- The Louisiana Tech men's basketball team received more postseason honors on Saturday night as three Bulldogs -- Erik McCree, Jacobi Boykins and DaQuan Bracey -- earned honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Bracey was named the Louisiana Freshman of the Year while McCree and Boykins were among the 15 players selected to the All-Louisiana team in a vote by the state's basketball sports information directors and selected media members for the 2016-17 season.

A month after being selected as the Conference USA Freshman of the Year, the point guard Bracey became the first LA Tech player to be named LSWA Freshman of the Year since Paul Millsap in 2004.

The cat-quick, Baltimore, Maryland native took Ruston by storm. He got into the starting lineup in game seven and started every game from then on out, continuing the strong point guard play in the program after recent standouts Alex Hamilton and Kenneth Smith.

He ended up setting a C-USA and program freshman record for most assists in a single season with 193. His average of 5.8 assists per game ranked in the top 20 in the country while his +3.51 assist/turnover ratio was the best of any freshman in the nation and the best of any Bulldog in program history.

Bracey also showed off his ability to score, posting 13 double-digit scoring games, including a career-high 21 points in a road win at Old Dominion.

A year after being named to the second team, McCree was part of the five-person first team after a stellar senior season.

The stretch-four forward had career marks in shooting, going 48 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. He ended up being one of only four forwards in the country with at least 200 made field goals, 50 made three-pointers and 125 made free throws.

The Orlando, Florida native led the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounding for the season with an average of 17.7 points and 8.9 boards per game. He led the team in both categories in 16 individual games this past season.

McCree recorded 20+ points in 10 games, including a career-high 33 points versus Southeastern Louisiana. He also posted 13 double-doubles which was the second most in C-USA and the fifth most in the program in the last 25 years.

This marks the fourth postseason award for the senior (First Team All-Conference USA, USBWA All-District VII and First Team NABC All-District 11).

His teammate Boykins shot his way to the five-person third team, his first All-LSWA honor.

The junior shooting guard set the program record for most made three-pointers in a single season with 89. He ended up shooting 41 percent from behind the arc (ranked in the top 35 in the country) while averaging 14.7 points per game, second most on the squad.

The St. Petersburg, Florida native had seven games of 20+ points, including a career-high 26 versus UMES. He was also one of the best defenders, leading the league in steals per game with an average of two per contest. He totaled 65 steals in the season which tied for the fourth most in a single season in program history.

Boykins also earned Third Team All-Conference USA and was named to the C-USA All-Defensive Team.

This marked the fourth straight year the Bulldogs have had multiple players selected to the All-Louisiana Team.
