Harris Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

May 1, 2017

RUSTON, La. - For the third time this season, Nate Harris has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, in an announcement made by the league office on Monday morning.

The senior tossed his third complete game of the season on Saturday afternoon, a mark that ranks first in Conference USA, despite the fact that he has only started five games in his career.

Over those nine innings, Harris struck nine batters which tied a career-high mark set earlier this season against Wichita State. Along with those nine strikeouts, Harris did not walk to a single WKU hitter and allowed just five hits, improving his WHIP (Walks + Hits / Innings Pitched) to an incredible 0.77.

His 0.77 WHIP not only ranks first in Conference USA, but also ranks second in the entire nation.

Going the distance and allowing just one run over that stretch, dropped Harris' era to a Conference USA-best 1.04 ERA. That mark also ranks second in college baseball, behind just Oregon State phenome Luke Heimlich.

Harris also ranks fourth in college baseball and first in Conference USA with a 9.38 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Harris and the Bulldogs are back in action on Friday night at 6 p.m. CT in Miami, Florida, kicking off a three-game series against FIU. All three games of the series will be broadcast on ESPN 97.7 and streamed on CUSA.TV.
