RUSTON --Â The late Joe Aillet, who was the cornerstone for success in athletics at Louisiana Tech from 1940 through 1970, is to be inducted into yet another Hall of Fame.
Holy Cross School in New Orleans, where Aillet excelled in numerous sports and held various leadership positions as a student before graduating in 1923, has announced that the former Louisiana Tech coaching legend will be inducted into the school's Sports Hall of Fame on Nov. 2, 2018.
The school will introduce this year's Hall of Fame class at halftime on Thursday, Nov. 1, and the honorees will be officially inducted during a dinner banquet the following night, Nov. 2, in the school's Student Center.
Headmaster Sean Martin said, "It became obvious in a search of records that Joe Aillet was a remarkable student, athlete and leader at Holy Cross and we are proud to include him in the upcoming group of honorees."
Aillet, (Sept. 13, 1904 -- Dec. 28, 1971), was previously inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame (1973), the Louisiana Tech Athletic Hall of Fame (1984) and the College Football Hall of Fame (1989).
The Louisiana Tech football stadium and fieldhouse were both named in his honor in 1972.
Serving as Tech's head football coach from 1940-1966, Aillet's Bulldogs won or shared 12 conference titles in 26 seasons and he is still the school's all-time winningest coach with a 151-86-8 record. He was also the school's director of athletics from 1940 until 1970.
An outstanding golfer in his own right, Aillet guided the Tech golf team from 1952-68 and his Bulldogs won 10 Gulf States Conference titles in those 15 seasons. He was named the Gulf States Conference Coach of the Year four times and served as President of the Gulf States Conference four times.
Coach Aillet will be represented at the induction ceremony by son Bobby Aillet of Shreveport and daughter Cynthia Murry of Ruston along with several grandchildren.
