Tennis Adds Two Signees to 2018 Class

April 20, 2018

RUSTON - Louisiana Tech women's tennis head coach Amanda Stone announced on Friday the signings of Ana Jover and Alana Sherman to National Letters of Intent for the 2018 recruiting class.

LA Tech has had a lot of recent success with Spanish players, including two on the current roster. Ana Jover will be the latest Lady Techster from Spain where she has been a regional championship. The second signee, Alana Sherman, is a former four-star recruit out of high school by way of Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

"We are so excited to have Ana and Alana joining our team," Stone said. "Both girls bring amazing attitudes and energy that is in line with the direction we are going as a program. They are great examples of the kind of student-athletes we want representing LA Tech Tennis on and off the court."

Jover currently plays her tennis at Club de Campo Elda in her hometown of Elda. She has previously been a member of the Torrevieja Tennis Club where they were two-time Regional Champions.

"Ana is going to immediately strengthen us in singles," Stone said. "She's a very competitive player who is showing great potential in her junior career. I'm looking forward to seeing her reach her potential and growing as a Lady Techster."

Jover has a national ranking of 214 (all players in Spain), was a regional champion in doubles in 2017 and was part of the national championship team in 2015.

The second signee, Sherman, had an incredible junior career prior to suffering an injury. She was recruited by the USTA Development Center and was one of the top recruits at the Miami Showcase.

"Alana is an amazing athlete with a high ceiling," Stone said. "She has a big-time forehand and serve. She's going to push everyone on the team to get better."

She was ranked as high as the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee with multiple victories over 5-star (blue chip) players in the U18's. She went on to play at State College of Florida where she was part of the No. 12-ranked doubles team in the country.
