RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech soccer team will play three of its final four regular season matches on the road starting with a pair this week as they make the trip to the Lone Star State to battle UTEP and UTSA.
Â
First up is a matchup in El Paso versus UTEP on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at University Field, followed by a matchup in San Antonio against UTSA on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Park West University Complex.
Â
An undermanned LA Tech (11-2-2, 3-2-1 C-USA) squad rebounded from a home loss to UAB by making a comeback late in regulation against Rice. The Lady Techsters found themselves down two goals with 19 minutes to play, but got goals from
Connor Barker and
Amber Posthauer to help draw with the Owls.
Â
Jaelyn Peeples assisted on one of the goals, bringing her career assist total to 21 which ties the program record. The senior is also three starts away from No. 77 which would be a program record as well as being 120 minutes played away from setting that program record.
Â
With the one point gained from the draw, LA Tech now has 10 points through six league matches which puts them alone in sixth place in the conference standings.Â
Â
UTEP (7-4-3, 2-2-1 C-USA) is in a three-way tie for seventh right now with seven points. The Miners are winless in their last three matches with a scoreless draw against UAB and back-to-back losses to Middle Tennessee and WKU.Â
Â
They average 1.50 goals per game with Lauren Crenshaw leading the way with five goals. Emily Parrott has made 13 of the 14 starts in net with a 1.35 goals against average and four shutouts to her credit.Â
Â
LA Tech and UTEP will meet for the fifth time on the pitch. The Lady Techsters have never lost to the Miners, posting a 3-0-1 mark while outscoring them, 7-1. This will be the first time this matchup will be played in El Paso.Â
Â
UTSA (5-6-1, 1-4-0 C-USA) put an end to a four-game losing streak this past Sunday with a 3-2 conference win over Marshall. The three total points have them in a tie for 12th currently.
Â
The Roadrunners are averaging 1.58 goals per game with Ellis Patterson and Lexi Bolton combining for 10 of their 19 goals this season. Jil Schneider and Sophie Milich have split time in goal, combining for a 1.38 goals against average and four shutouts.Â
Â
LA Tech leads the all-time series with UTSA, 5-1-0. The Lady Techsters have the last four meetings.Â
