RUSTON, La. – It wasn't enough that the 2019 version of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters proved to be the best Conference USA had to offer on the field.
But those same Lady Techsters proved to be the league's best in the classroom as well according to the Easton/NFCA Team GPA released on Wednesday.
The Lady Techsters combined to record a 3.562 grade point average during the 2018-19 academic year to rank 17
th best in the country among Division I softball programs, the best amongst C-USA and in-state schools.
Tech was one of five C-USA programs ranked in the top 100, along with WKU (No. 35), Middle Tennessee (No. 81), Marshall (No. 89) and UTEP (No. 98). Tech was just one of three in-state schools ranked in the top 100, the only one in the top 50.
In addition to the team honor, Tech saw 12 players earn Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete honors, including
Kimmie Atienza,
Berkley Calapp,
