Techsters, Miners face off Thursday at 8 p.m.

EL PASO, Texas – Louisiana Tech puts its three-game winning streak on the line Thursday night when the Lady Techsters travel to the Don Haskins Center to face UTEP at 8 p.m.

Tech (13-11, 5-6 C-USA) is averaging 89 points a game over its last six contests (4-2) after its 106-85 win over Southern Miss Saturday. UTEP (6-18, 3-8) has found some recent success, recording back-to-back road wins last week at FIU and Florida Atlantic.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on KNBB 97.7 FM and KJVC 92.7 FM with the pregame show starting at 7:30 p.m. Fans can also watch a live video stream through a paid subscription to CUSATV.com.

"It's never an easy place to play," said Tech head coach Brooke Stoehr. "UTEP has gained some confidence with a couple of wins in a row. We have to go out there and do a great job. We have to defend. They have a couple of players that can really score it, and we have to be ready to go from the start."

Although Tech continues to be paced by senior guard Kierra Anthony, who earned her fourth Conference USA Player of the Week award Monday, the Lady Techsters have found plenty of supplemental offense over the past three weeks.

Anthony scored 45 points in the win over Southern Miss, including making a C-USA single game record 19 field goals, and is averaging 24.0 points per game – the fourth most in the nation. She has scored in double figures in every game this year and owns six of the top 9 scoring performances in C-USA this season.

During the six-game stretch, five other Tech players are averaging at least nine points a game, including Amber Dixon (12.2 ppg), Grayson Bright (11.3 ppg), Bri Harris (9.7 ppg), Taylor Stahly (9.3 ppg) and Raizel Guinto (9.0 ppg).

Tech is shooting 51 percent from the field and an eye-popping 47 percent from the three-point line over its last six games, including back-to-back games of hitting more than 60 percent of its shots.

UTEP has struggled offensively this season, averaging 58.3 points per outing. Zuzanna Puc is the lone Miner averaging double figures in scoring at 13.1 points a contest followed by Katarina Zec at 8.9 points per game. Injuries have plagued the Miners as UTEP has been down to just seven players over the past few games.

Tech leads the all-time series against UTEP 12-6, although the two teams have split the 10 meetings in El Paso. Tech won last year's meeting 65-62 at the Don Haskins Center.
