Bulldogs Travel to Natchitoches to Wrap Up Season Series with Demons

RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech baseball team will look to quell a four-game skid this Tuesday, traveling to Natchitoches, Louisiana, to take on the Northwestern State Demons in the fifth game of Tech's current nine-game road trip.

The game, scheduled for 6 p.m. from Brown-Stroud Field on the campus of Northwestern State, will mark the second meeting of the season between the two clubs, with the Demons taking an 8-4 win in the first matchup back on March 5th from Ruston.

Last season, the Bulldogs and Demons split a pair of decisions, with the road team coming out on top in each game. Northwestern State took the first matchup, 6-4, in 10 innings, and then Tech claimed a 6-3 win in Natchitoches a few weeks later.

Tech has won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two teams, dating back to the 2014 season.

The Bulldogs (28-15, 12-9 C-USA) find themselves on the wrong end of a four-game losing streak, after the team dropped a midweek decision to McNeese and then was swept by C-USA foe Rice. The C-USA road series defeat was the first for the Bulldogs in two years, snapping a streak of seven consecutive road, league series triumphs.

Despite the tough weekend, Tech still finds itself in the upper half of the C-USA standings, sitting in fourth place with three weekends of conference action remaining.

For Tuesday night's meeting, the Northwestern State Athletics Department will collect donations for the Ruston tornado recovery, from a devastating storm on April 25th, resulting in two casualties and widespread damage to the city and several of Tech's athletic facilities, including the destruction of J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

Additionally, the Demons will fly the Louisiana Tech flag alongside the American and Louisiana flags behind the outfield wall in a show of solidarity as the Louisiana Tech community rebuilds and recovers from the storm's damage.

Northwestern State is slated to throw right-hander Jerry Maddox (3-3, 7.07 ERA, 42.0 IP, 50 K, 22 BB), while Tech has yet to announce a starter.
