DALLAS – Louisiana Tech senior
Drake Heinz was honored for his efforts both in the classroom and on the track Tuesday after being selected to the 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Men's Track and Field All-Academic Team.

A native of Benton, Louisiana, Heinz has maintained a 3.75 cumulative GPA in biology in his time at Louisiana Tech, while he is also a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Additionally, Heinz has been named to LA Tech's AD Honor Roll four times in his career.

On the playing field, Heinz competed in seven events for the Bulldogs over the course of the indoor and outdoor campaigns. The senior competed in three events during the indoor season, running a season-best time of 1:59.37 in the 800m at the South Alabama Invitational. He finished in third place at LA Tech's own Jim Mize Invitational with a time of 2:00.29 in the outdoor 800m.

This spring, Heinz posted three top 20 finishes in the 800m during the outdoor season, including posting a season-best time of 1:57.89 at the LSU Alumni Gold Meet.
