RUSTON – After setting Louisiana Tech and Conference USA records on Sunday, junior
Amber Posthauer was chosen as the C-USA Offensive Player of the Week for week one of the 2019 season.
Â
The midfielder struck for six goals and two assists in the 15-0 victory over Alcorn State. The six goals set a LA Tech and C-USA single-game record as did the 14 total points.Â
Â
Posthauer netted four of her six goals in the first period, the first one coming in the 14th minute on a 1v1 with the opposing keeper. The second goal was a result of a shot from 25 yards out while the other two came on converted penalty kicks. Â
Â
That tied the program record which was set by Taylor Dennis back in 2014. The goal that broke the program record came early in the second period with a left-footed curl goal. The sixth and final goal that broke the C-USA record which was set in 2009 was produced in the 72nd minute on a one-touch finish from the left.Â
Â
This marks the first ever Player of the Week honor for Posthauer.Â
Â
LA Tech is back in action today as they face off against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Pumphrey Soccer Complex.
