This marks the third overall meeting between the Bulldogs and Falcons, and the first since 1997. Bowling Green will make their return trip to Ruston in the home-and-home agreement on September 30, 2023.

J'Mar Smith has been climbing the program record books and placing himself among some elite company. Last week against Grambling State, Smith became just the 5
th Tech quarterback to reach 7,000 yards passing, and also passed Matt Dunigan for 4
th on the career passing yards list (7,097).

Smith has also moved into a tie for ninth place in career passing touchdowns with 36 (tied with Ross Jenkins 2006-10).

The Tech signal caller ranks second among C-USA leaders in total offense (292.0 YPG).

All-time, Tech owns a 2-0 record vs. Bowling Green. The last time these two teams met was back in 1997 where the Bulldogs claimed a 30-23 win in Ruston. The first meeting between the two came two years prior as Tech staked a 28-21 road triumph.

In 2019, the Bulldogs are off to a strong start through the air, ranking third in passing offense with 280.0 yards per game.

Defensively under new coordinator
Bob Diaco, the Tech defense is second in C-USA in red zone defense and is tied for 21
st nationally, giving up just five red zone scores in eight opportunities.

James Jackson and
Connor Taylor have bolstered the Tech linebacker corps through the first two games of the season. Scott leads the team and ranks 4
th in C-USA in total tackles (18). Jackson is among the top 10 in tackles per game (8.0), while Taylor leads the league with two forced fumbles.

Tech junior cornerback
Amik Robertson has been credited with four pass breakups already through the first two games of the season after leading the team in the category in each of the past two seasons. Robertson was the only C-USA player to earn preseason watch list nods for Preseason All-C-USA, Bednarik Award, Jim Thorpe Award and Bronko Nagurski Award.

On special teams, redshirt freshman
Smoke Harris has established himself as a legitimate kick return threat, currently leading the league in kick-return average (113 total yards, 22.6 YPG). Harris is also tied for eighth in C-USA in all-purpose yards with 179 through his first two games of the season.
