NORFOLK, Virginia – Offense has been in short supply over the past two games for Louisiana Tech, dropping league contests against UAB and Charlotte while scoring a total of 88 points.
The Lady Techsters (10-9, 2-6 C-USA) will try to remedy the issue Saturday afternoon when Tech faces Old Dominion (17-3, 7-1) at 1 p.m. CT at Chartway Arena. The contest can be heard on KNBB 97.7 FM with the pregame show set for 12:30 p.m.
Tech has it work cut out for it against the top defensive team in Conference USA. The Monarchs allow just 53.0 points per game and hold opponents to just 34 percent shooting from the field and 23 percent from the three-point line.
Old Dominion is coming off a 67-50 win over Southern Miss Thursday night, marking the sixth straight victory for the Monarchs. ODU's one league loss came at UAB on Jan. 4.
Sophomore Ajah Wayne (11.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg) leads Old Dominion offensively, but the forward went down in the first half of the win over Southern Miss. Her status for Saturday is unknown. Taylor Edwards (11.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg), Victoria Morris (10.9 ppg, 51-135 three-pointers) and Amari Young (9.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg) also average double figures.
Tech leads the all-time series against ODU 17-9, although the Monarchs won last year's meeting in Ruston. Saturday's game marks just the second time since joining Conference USA in 2013 that Tech will play the Monarchs in Norfolk.
