CONROE, Texas – The No. 9 Louisiana Tech women's bowling team ended the first round of the Sam Houston State-hosted Track Kat Klash ranked third on Friday.

"We did not bowl to our capabilities today," head coach
Matt Nantais said. "When we had a lead, they seemed to lose focus. We need to come out tomorrow and do a better job."

The Lady Techsters split their Baker matches, 2-2. LA Tech opened the tournament with a 976-854 win over Prairie View A&M before losing, 1,164-1,012, to No. 2 Vanderbilt. Louisiana Tech had a bye in the third round of the tournament where the Lady Techsters recorded 931 total pins. LA Tech lost, 1,005-990, to No. 5 Sam Houston State in the fourth round. The Lady Techsters then ended the day with a 977-898 victory over Texas Southern.

LA Tech will look to finish the Track Kat Klash strong on Saturday as the Lady Techsters will compete in five traditional matches beginning at 8:15 a.m. (CT). The tournament champion will be determined by total pins from both Friday and Saturday.
