Â
LA Tech (3-1) suffered its worst loss since 2011 this past Sunday, falling 86-55 to the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge in what was their first road game of the season.Â
Â
The Bulldogs found themselves down 19 at halftime and got to within 14 midway through the second half, but the Tigers went on a quick 8-0 run to put the game away.Â
Â
Kenneth Lofton, Jr. was the bright spot for LA Tech in that game though, recording a career-high 17 points and 12 rebounds. It marked his second straight double-double, making him the first Bulldog freshman to do so since Paul Millsap did it in 2004.
Â
As a result of his two double-doubles, Lofton, Jr. was voted as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week for week two. He was practically unstoppable against ULM and LSU, averaging 13.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 69 percent from the field.
Â
Despite an off-shooting night,
Kalob Ledoux continues to pace the team in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per contest. He is shooting 41 percent from deep, one of four Bulldogs shooting over a 40 percent clip from three-point range.Â
Â
JaColby Pemberton had his string of four straight double-doubles snapped at LSU, but the senior is still averaging one at 11.8 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds per game.
Â
As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging 75.0 points through four games this season while shooting 43 percent from the field, 34 percent from downtown and 63 percent from the foul line.
Â
Southeastern Louisiana (1-4) is coming off a long trip out west where they split a pair of games against California Baptist, winning its first game of the season in an 81-80 contest before falling 83-66 in the second matchup versus the Lancers.
Â
The Lions currently have two players averaging double-digit points – Joe Kasperzyk is averaging 10.6 points and Keon Clergeot is averaging 10.2 points. Both players have taken a team-high 46 field goal attempts.
Â
They are shooting just 61 percent from the foul line this season, but rank fourth in the country in total free throw attempts with 132. They are also one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the nation, averaging 15.0 per game.
Â
LA Tech and SLU will meet for the 62nd time and the first time since 2016 when the Bulldogs were victorious in Ruston by a final score of 88-59. The two in-state programs have played only five times since 1973.Â
