Young Named to Bobby Bragan Award Watch List

RUSTON – Taylor Young was placed on the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation announced on Tuesday. The BBCSA is given to the nation's best hitter and special consideration is given to academics and personal integrity.

Young's placement on the list comes after two stellar years at the plate as a freshman and sophomore. The West Monroe native has a career batting average of .306 and an on-base percentage of .454. He has accumulated 85 career walks and will reach the top-ten in school history with just two more in 2020.

Thus far in 2019, Young has helped the Bulldogs to a season-opening four game win streak. The junior went 2-for-5 with a double, stolen base, and 2 runs in a 10-0 victory over UL-Lafayette and was 1-for-4 with a walk and run in Tuesday's 7-4 triumph at McNeese.

This year's BBCSA watch list consists of 36 players. Young is 1 of 19 juniors and 1 of 5 players from Louisiana schools on the list. The winner of the award will be announced in June and honored at a gala this fall in Fort Worth, Texas.
