RUSTON – Louisiana Tech freshman
Allie Leiendecker earned Southland Bowler of the Month honors for her performance in February, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
The conference honors come right before Leiendecker and the 11th-ranked Lady Techsters are scheduled to travel to the Music City Classic, which is hosted by Vanderbilt on March 6-8.
Leiendecker was nothing short of outstanding at the Mid-Winter Invitational – Tech's only tournament in February - earning Tournament MVP honors and leading 11th-ranked Louisiana Tech to a 7th place team finish. She finished with a 224.8 overall average.
The freshman led the league throughout February with a 21.64 overall average per frame and a traditional frame average of 22.5. She concluded the month ranked second in the league with a 91.3-percent fill average, while knocking down 76 strikes.
As a team, the Lady Techsters averaged better than 200 at the Mid-Winter Invite for the first time in school history.
Kaitlyn Eder and
Lindsay Manning joined Leiendecker in the top-30 with 15th and 23rd place finishes, respectively.
The Techsters will look to build on their success this weekend at the Music City Classic. LA Tech placed tenth at the competition last year. This year's tournament will feature 29 teams that will comprise an incredibly competitive field.
Friday's Baker games are set to start at 9:40 a.m. with Saturday's traditional contests opening at 9:30 a.m. and bracket play beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
