RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach
Matt Nantais added more talent to the 11
th-ranked bowling team in the nation with the signing of Saint Francis transfer Katelyn Orisek.
Orisek, who hails from Yorkville, Ill., will be a sophomore in 2020-21. She was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team in 2019-20.
"I'm excited to have Katie joining us here at Louisiana Tech. She is definitely bringing extra talent to our team as well as a positive attitude," said Nantais. "Katie will be able to come in and help make an immediate impact for us. She also has strong academics and work ethic, which we look for at Louisiana Tech."
In addition to the yearly honors, the transfer was also a three-time NEC All-Rookie weekly selection. Orisek led Saint Francis with a traditional frame average of 191.3 over three NEC meets and a baker frame average of 178.2. Her traditional frame average of 19.133 ranked 10th in the NEC and her strike pct. of 39.2% was 12th.
Orisek was also named to the Columbia 300 Penguin Classic All-Tournament Team. In high school, she was named the 2017 Elite Youth Tour U15 Bowler of the Year and was the 2018 Illinois Individual Sectional Champion.
The Lady Techsters closed out the 2019-20 season ranked 11th in the nation with a 64-34 record. Tech made history when it qualified for the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships and was set to compete in the Dallas Sectional before the season was cut short in March.
