RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech's track and field program opens its 2021 indoor season Sunday when the Bulldogs and Lady Techsters compete at the KMS Open in Birmingham, Alabama. LA Tech's first indoor meet of the season will be held in the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Sunday's meet begins at 8 a.m. with a variety of field events. Tech's
Leah Scott and
Raven Alexander will open the day in the women's long jump. Bulldogs
Colin Butler and
Javion Canna will compete in the men's long jump at the same time.
Three Lady Techsters –
Sydney Anderson,
Macy Belgard and
Johannon Murray – will compete in the women's high jump during the opening hour as well.
"We're incredibly excited about our first competition in 11 months," head coach
Gary Stanley said. "We got five indoor meets in last year, so that definitely helps, but this is unusual for a group that would usually compete all the way into May and would start in January.
"The Birmingham CrossPlex is a world-class facility, and we are excited to compete there. It does help our student-athletes prepare for the biggest meet of the year, which are the conference championships held in the same place."
Thirty-one LA Tech student-athletes will compete in 19 total events throughout Sunday's meet. LA Tech fans can follow the action live from the Birmingham CrossPlex at the attached

Louisiana Tech will be competing against a field of over 40 teams, including Sun Belt programs Georgia State and South Alabama. Tech will also match up against in-state schools Southern and Xavier this weekend.
