Bulldog Signee Earns McDonald’s All-American Nomination

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech men's basketball signee Kaleb Stewart was among 20 players from the state of Texas nominated for the 2021 McDonald's All-American Games.

Stewart, a 6-foot-3-inch, 180-pound point guard for Atascocita High School (suburb of Houston), inked with the Bulldogs back on Nov. 11 as part of a three-person recruiting class.

The Eagles won their first 15 games of the 2020-21 season and currently sit at 18-2 overall and ranked No. 12 in Class 6A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Rated as one of the top players in the Greater Houston area and in the state of Texas, Stewart has helped lead Atascocita to their first district title since 2018, this after finishing the regular season with a 73-38 win over rival Kingwood.

"Kaleb is a guard with elite speed, quickness and energy," said Konkol.  "He can really get the ball up the floor to attack the defense and create scoring for himself and others.  He also possesses tremendous length and athleticism.  We are excited about the talent he brings as a playmaking guard."

This marks the second straight year a Bulldog signee has been nominated for the prestigious prep showcase game (star freshman Kenneth Lofton, Jr. was nominated last year).  The roster is set to be announced later this month, though the game will not be played due to the pandemic.
