RUSTON – After having four straight matches postponed due to Mother Nature, the Louisiana Tech tennis team returns to the courts on Wednesday to take on I-20 foe ULM in Monroe at 2 p.m. at Heard Stadium.
Â
It has been over two weeks since LA Tech (4-2) was in action, sweeping Grambling State in a home doubleheader back on Feb. 7. The two victories ran the Lady Techsters winning streak to four.Â
Â
Courts two, three and four have been the primary point getters this spring, combining for a singles record of 12-5.Â
Anastasiia Salenko has the four wins at No. 2 and
Alexia Romero has the four wins at No. 4. Both players are 5-1 in singles and riding five-match winning streaks.
Â
Dating back to last season, Romero has won nine of her last 10 dual singles matches and is 15-3 overall in her young career.
Â
In doubles, Salenko has teamed up with veteran
Claudia Oravcova to produce a team-best 3-2 mark (1-0 at No. 2 and 2-2 at No. 3). The senior Oravcova has won 14 of the last 17 dual doubles matches played in, dating back to last season, and is one win shy of reach 40 for her career.Â
Â
ULM (2-1) opened the dual season with a 5-2 loss at Samford, but the Warhawks have won their last two games by scores of 5-2 over Lamar and Stephen F. Austin.
Â
LA Tech and ULM faced off in a few matches during the fall at the LA Tech Invitational. The Lady Techsters won two of the three singles and doubles matches during the competitive event.Â
Â
The last dual match the two teams played was in 2018. The Warhawks came out on top, 4-3, in Ruston.
