NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Louisiana Tech will return to the softball diamond Tuesday night when the Lady Techsters travel west to face Stephen F. Austin at SFA Softball Field at 6 p.m.
Tech (4-7) is coming off a weekend that saw the Lady Techsters record a pair of wins over Tarleton State while dropping two close contests against Big 12 foe Baylor (3-1, 3-2). SFA (7-6) is coming off an impressive showing in Conway where they won all five games.
The Tech pitching staff was solid in the circle this past weekend and is led by
Emma Hutchinson (2-0, 1.91 ERA),
Audrey Pickett (0-3, 2.13 ERA),
Bre Hernandez (1-3, 4.71 ERA) and
Lauren Menzina (1-0, 3.11 ERA).
Offensively, the Lady Techsters bats started to warm up this past weekend.
Olivia Ellingson (.348, 2-2 SB),
Kara Goff (.333, 2 HR, 7 RBI),
Madie Green (.303, 4 doubles, 4 RBI),
Zoe Hicks (.273, 3 doubles) and
Caroline Easom (.270, 7 RBI) lead the Lady Techsters at the plate.
SFA will be playing its home opener Tuesday. The Lady Jacks are led in the circle by Kassidy Wilbur (6-3, 1.49 ERA), who has struck out 83 batters in just 56.1 innings of work this season.
Offensively, Shaylon Govan (.421, 2 HR, 9 RBI) and Gaby Garcia (.395, 1 HR, 8 RBI) are the top two hitters for SFA.
Following the contest the Lady Techsters will head to College Station to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational Friday and Saturday with two games each against the Aggies and Montana.
