NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Kassidy Wilbur pitched a complete-game one hitter and Shaylon Govan homered twice as Stephen F. Austin defeated Louisiana Tech 4-0 at SFA Softball Field Tuesday evening.
Tech (4-8) fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning on Govan's two-run home run over the left field fence against Lady Techster starter
Emma Hutchinson (2-1). Govan then added a solo shot to right centerfield against Techsters reliever
Bre Hernandez in the bottom of the third inning.
The Ladyjacks (7-7) added an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth inning after a pair of Tech errors cost the Lady Techsters.
Wilbur was in complete control in the circle, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in the 7.0 innings of action.
Amanda Gonzalez recorded the lone hit for Tech while
Madie Green and
Caroline Easom both drew walks.
Hernandez was solid in relief for Tech, allowing two runs – one earned – on two hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
The Lady Techsters return to action Friday and Saturday as they face Montana and Texas A&M in College Station.
