RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech's track and field team continues its 2021 outdoor season at LSU's Battle on the Bayou on Saturday. Saturday's meet will be held at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.
LA Tech's second outdoor meet of 2021 is expected to begin with the women's discus throw at 9:30 a.m. Running events are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay. The last scheduled field event is the women's javelin throw at 3 p.m., while the final running event is the men's 4x400-meter relay at 3:35 p.m.
Limited fan attendance will be allowed at Saturday's competition. Spectators will be allowed to attend on a first come, first serve basis with a capacity limit of 2,800 people.
"We're really excited about racing at LSU on Saturday," head coach
Gary Stanley said. "It's a world-class facility, and while we have some minor injuries heading into the weekend, our smaller squad of student-athletes looks forward to competing.
"I think we will head back to Ruston with some good marks."
LA Tech opened its 2021 outdoor season with the Victor Lopez Classic on Saturday. The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters combined to register three first-place finishes and 11 top-three finishes a week ago.

Recapping the Victor Lopez Classic
- The women's 4x100m relay team of Ma'Asa Gay, Jada Branch, Claudasha Watson and Taylor Shaw took home first place in this past Saturday's meet, clocking in with a time of 46.01 seconds.
- Watson recorded her second first-place finish of the day with a first-place time of 12.13 seconds in the women's 100-meter dash.
- On the men's side, the Bulldogs dominated in the men's javelin throw with three Tech throwers finishing inside the top five. Henry Terral recorded a first-place heave of 67.18 meters, which now ranks fourth in program history. Tripp Marcus and Tyler O'con finished second and fourth, respectively, to round out a strong Bulldog performance.
- Leah Scott recorded a jump of 12.09 meters to notch a second-place mark in the women's triple jump.
- Annamari Farrar registered a second-place finish in the women's javelin throw with a heave of 41.38 meters.
- Lady Techsters Johannon Murray and Makayla Edwards each finished third in their respective events. Murray registered a time of 14.75 seconds in the women's 100-meter hurdles, while Edwards sprinted her way to a third-place time in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.78 seconds.
- Bulldog Colin Butler also recorded a top-three finish by placing third in men's long jump. Butler's mark of 7.38 meters (24'-02.50") came on his sixth and final jump on the afternoon.
- Throwers Johnie Jean-Jacques and Riley Finnegan each recorded a top-five finish in the men's discus throw. Jean-Jacques set a new PR with a heave of 46.49 meters (152'-06"), placing third in the competition. Finnegan recorded a mark of 45.95 meters (150'-09") to record a fourth-place finish. Jean-Jacques also placed fourth in the men's shot put with a toss of 16.01 meters (52'-06.50").

LA Tech will head south once again for a Saturday meet in Hammond, Louisiana. Southeastern Louisiana will serve as the meet hosts for April 10's Strawberry Relays.
