RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech's track and field team concludes its 2021 outdoor season with its fifth weekend of competition, traveling to College Station, Texas, for the Alumni Muster. Saturday's meet will take place at Texas A&M's E.B. Cushing Stadium.
Field events will begin at 12:30 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. Running events will begin in the evening with the women's 4x100-meter relay scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

Following Saturday's regular-season finale in College Station, Texas, LA Tech will have an open weekend before the Conference USA Championships on May 13-16 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Recapping the J. Fred Duckett Twilight & Leon Johnson NSU Invitational
- Ruston native and former Cedar Creek High School star Tripp Marcus made Louisiana Tech track and field history on Saturday, setting a new school record in the men's javelin throw with a lifetime-best heave of 72.51 meters. Marcus now holds the top two marks in program history after his first toss at the Leon Johnson NSU Invitational traveled 70.82 meters. Marcus' mark ranks 16th nationally and first in the C-USA by more than 4 meters.
- On Wednesday, Marcus was named Conference USA's Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his record-setting performance this past weekend.
- Triple-jumper Murphy Bavinga continued LA Tech's success in field events with a first-place mark in the men's triple jump. Bavinga's leap of 15.16 meters (49'-09") secured gold, while teammate Caleb Clark finished third in the event with a mark of 14.65 meters (48'-00.75"). Bavinga's leap of 15.16 meters is a new personal best, surpassing his previous best of 15.07 meters set back at the Vanderbilt Invitational in January 2020.
- Fellow triple-jumper Leah Scott placed fourth in the women's triple jump on Saturday, registering a mark of 12.35 meters (40'-06.25") on her fifth attempt.
- Henry Terral placed second behind teammate Tripp Marcus in the men's javelin throw, recording a heave of 60.85 meters (199'-8").
- Triple jumper Murphy Bavinga finished fourth in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.77 meters.
- On the track, Nolan Walker placed third in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.41 seconds. Walker's third-place time in a field of 26 competitors set a new personal best for the Houston native.
- Claudasha Watson placed sixth out of 35 competitors in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.08 seconds.
- After just setting a new lifetime best in the men's 800-meter run earlier this month, Conner Killian broke 1:55 for the first time in his career with a time of 1:53.38, placing eighth out of 47 individual competitors.
