Marcus, Terral Shine in Rain-Shortened Meet at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Louisiana Tech men's javelin thrower Tripp Marcus set a Texas A&M Alumni Muster meet record with a heave 71.55 meters (234'-09") in a shortened meet at E.B. Cushing Stadium. Rain forced the meet to be canceled after just eight out of 38 events were completed, none of which came on the track.

Fellow men's javelin thrower Henry Terral set a new personal best to place second on Saturday, recording a throw of 67.82 meters (222'-06") on his first throw of the afternoon.

Bulldog William Malone set a new personal best in the men's hammer throw with a heave of 51.80 meters (169'-11"). Malone's first throw of the afternoon helped him place fifth in the competition.

The Bulldogs and Lady Techsters were unable to compete in any running events at Saturday's meet. This marks the second time LA Tech has missed out on a full competition during the 2021 regular season.

"I'm very, very disappointed with the weather situation today in College Station," head coach Gary Stanley said. "I felt our student-athletes were ready for some good performances.

"Two of our six regular season meets got rained out."

LA Tech will now take a weekend off before competing in the Conference USA Championships on May 13-16 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
