RUSTON – A total of 199 Louisiana Tech student-athletes earned Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition during the 2020-21 academic year in an announcement made by the league office on Wednesday.
 
A record high 57.3 percent of all LA Tech student-athletes received this honor, the largest percentage since joining C-USA in 2013.  The 199 total student-athletes earning this distinction was the second most, trailing only the 206 from the 2018-2019 academic year. 
 
"Anytime you can set a historical high-mark in the classroom, that's a victory," said Louisiana Tech VP and Director of Athletics Eric Wood. "I am proud of our student-athletes who earned this honor. But I want to push our coaches, our academic support staff and especially our student-athletes to not settle. There is plenty of room for improvement, and I want to see these numbers climb over the next few years. We want to compete – and to win – at an even higher rate in the classroom."
 
Four programs – bowling (entire team), volleyball, women's basketball and tennis (entire team) – all recorded a record number of Honor Roll recipients.  Football, golf, baseball and men's track and field all saw totals that ranked either second or third highest for each of those programs.
 
Student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.  Those with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better will also receive the Commissioner's Academic Medal.  The announcement of those recipients will be Thursday.
