Three Bulldogs Named GCAA All-American Scholars

RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech had three Bulldogs named All-American Scholars presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf it was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday. Junior James Swash and sophomores Hunter Battles and Lake Juban were each honored for their academic and athletic successes.
 
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
 
Swash, a finance major, has registered a cumulative 3.30 GPA in his three years at Louisiana Tech and is an eight-time AD Honor Roll selection. The junior Bulldog has also made the Dean's List and Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll three times and was a 2020-21 First Team Academic All-District 6 honoree. The native of Stockton On Tees, England, competed in all 10 events as a junior in the 2020-21 campaign. Swash registered a stroke average of 74.71 over 24 rounds. He shot a season-low 68 in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational on March 12. Swash placed in the top-15 twice at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate (-1, t-11th) and at the LaTour Intercollegiate (+3, t-15th). He finished the season with eight rounds at or under par.
 
Battles, a marketing major, holds a cumulative 3.43 GPA and is a four-time AD Honor Roll honoree. The sophomore from Muscle Shoals, Ala., has been named to the Dean's List three times, the President's List twice and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice. Battles competed in eight events as a sophomore in the 2020-21 campaign where he registered a stroke average of 75.68 over 19 rounds. Battles shot a career-low 71 in the first round of the Intercollegiate at The Grove on Oct. 12.
 
Juban, also a marketing major, posts a 3.26 cumulative GPA and is a six-time AD Honor Roll selections. The Hallsville, Texas, native has been named to the Dean's List four times, the President's List twice and the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll twice. Juban competed in all 10 events as a sophomore in 2020-21 where he registered a stroke average of 74.44 over 25 rounds. Juban shot a career-low 67 in the final round of the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Sept. 15, and finished the campaign with 10 rounds at or under par.
