The Lady Techsters improved to 5-0-0 in home season openers with a decisive 9-0 victory over East Texas Baptist in the first ever meeting between the two programs.  The nine goals was the most ever in a season opener and tied for the fourth most in a single game in program history.

Freshman Lauren Egbuloniu notched the first ever goal scored at Robert Mack Caruthers Field, finding the back of the net in the 13th minute.  She posted a second goal later in the first half.  Other goal scorers included Erin Chung, Lena Radler, Morgan Miller, Alpine Williams, Maci Geltmeier, Kalli Matlock and Avery Kyle.

Sydnee Korchak and Libe Banuelos split time in net, each playing one half.  The duo combined for the shutout, registering six total saves.

ABOUT MURRAY STATE (1-0-0)
After going down one goal in the first half, Murray State exploded for six unanswered goals (all coming in the second half) to down Missouri State by a final score of 6-1 in their 2021 season opener. Abby Jones accounted for half of those goals in netting a hat trick for the Racers.

Murray State was picked to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll behind only SIUE.  They return OVC Defender of the Year Izzy Heckman as well as First Team All-OVC forward Chloe Barnthouse.

THE SERIES
Sunday will be the third ever meeting between LA Tech and Murray State, all coming in Murray, Kentucky.  The Lady Techsters won the first ever meeting, 3-1, back in 2010, but the Racers pulled out a 1-0 overtime victory in 2015.

Murray State was supposed to play in Ruston in 2012 and 2016, but both matches were canceled due to weather.
