Lady Techsters Back at Home to Face UTEP

RUSTON- For the first time since late September, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team returns to the Thomas Assembly Center on Friday, Oct. 14 against UTEP.

ABOUT LA TECH (9-11, 2-3 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off a 3-0 road loss against North Texas. While in Denton, the Lady Techsters fought hard to defend themselves against the Mean Green but were not able to finish on top. Sydney Jackwin led LA Tech with eight of the 29 kills to go along with her one service ace. Jackwin is totaling 137 kills on the season and 138 digs.
Andrea Spasojevic leads the Lady Techsters with a total of 185 kills and a .154 hitting percentage to pair with her 158 digs. Along with Spasojevic and Jackwin, two other Lady Techsters have at least 100 kills; Chard'e Vanzandt with 121 and Ashley Taylor with 114. Redshirt Freshman, Ashley Jones is entering Friday's match with 400 assists on the season.
ABOUT UTEP (10-8, 4-1 C-USA)
UTEP enters Friday's match after falling to No.22, Rice, last Sunday. Miners' Mattie Gantt and Hande Yetis put up a combined 47 assists. Hula Crisostomo had a team-high with 20 digs.
Seven of the Miners are winning over .200 after their first 18 matches. Freshman Kaya Weaver, lead the team with 70 kills and a .329 hitting percentage.
THE SERIES
UTEP is 13-8 against LA Tech. The Miners swept the Lady Techsters in their last match-up on Sept. 30 in El Paso. UTEP has won the last seven meetings consisting of five straight sweeps.
