RUSTON, La. – After scoring two goals in a 2-1 conference road win over Florida Atlantic last Sunday,
Emma Jones was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Jones, the junior captain from Hutto, Texas, scored her second goal of the season in the 23' to give the Techsters a 1-0 lead in Boca Raton Sunday.
After the Owls tied the match at 1-1 in the 73', Jones played hero scoring her third of 2022 in the 85', which proved the first game-winner of her career.
Sunday's effort and win clinched a spot for LA Tech in the 2022 Conference USA Tournament, their first bid since 2019.
Jones has appeared in all 16 matches this season making 15 starts. She has logged 1,113 minutes while posting 13 shots, 10 of them on goal, and is tied for second on the team with six points.
The honor is the first C-USA Player of the Week in Jones's career.
LA Tech has won three matches in a row and moved into fourth place in the Conference USA standings with two matches remaining.
Jones and the Lady Techsters will host their final home game of the 2022 season this Sunday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. at Robert Mack Caruthers Field against UAB. Sunday will also serve as the Techsters' annual Alumni Game.
