ABOUT LA TECH (7-7-3, 5-2-2 C-USA)
Louisiana Tech has now won four straight matches and are unbeaten in their last five after handing UAB their first conference loss of the season with a 2-1 victory in Tech's home finale last Sunday at The Mack.
Lauren Egbuloniu became the second Lady Techster in as many weeks to earn Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after netting two goals in a win at FAU.
Egbuloniu followed
Emma Jones who won the award the previous week with her own two-score match in a win over FAU. Junior captain
Emma Jones earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring two goals in the win, the first multi-goal game of her career.
The two are the first teammates to win back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week honors since 2019.
They also joined teammate
Sydnee Korchak, who won C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts against Abilene Christian and UL-Lafayette earlier this season to mark the group of three teammates to be honored in a single season since 2018.
Korchak has totaled 75 saves on the year in 16 starts, good for third overall in Conference USA while posting a league-best 4.7 saves per contest.
Tech now has six players with multiple goals this season, led by freshman
Flavie Dube, with five. Jones, along with
Alma Cedefors, each scored three. Cedefors leads the team in game winners, with two.
Tech's offense has come on as of late, scoring in six straight matches, their best stretch of the 2022 campaign. During the stretch, Tech has netted 12 goals, with four of those in the first 25 minutes of the match, including two in the first nine minutes.
In conference play Tech has scored the third-most goals in the league, with 15.
Tech currently sits in fourth place in the C-USA standings, two points behind North Texas for third heading into the final regular-season match.
Tech will be searching for its first-ever five-game regular-season conference win streak in program history.
LA Tech has used 19 players in starting roles this season, with only three starting all 17 matches.
ABOUT NORTH TEXAS (10-5-2, 6-2-1 C-USA)
North Texas welcomes LA Tech on the heels of their own three-game win streak after beating UTEP (1-0), UTSA (3-1), and FIU (3-1). Their last loss came at the hands of unbeaten Rice, 2-0.
Their only other conference loss came by way of a 1-0 shutout defeat to FAU.
The Mean Green have posted five shutouts in Conference USA play, thanks to the goalkeeping play of Dani Jacobson. Jacobson has only surrendered 15 goals all season while registering 34 saves in in 16 starts.
On the offensive end, North Texas has netted 38 total goals, led by one-time C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, Olivia Klein with nine goals and a team-best 22 points.
North Texas has outshot the opposition 302-150 this season with a 125-52 advantage in shots on goal.
THE SERIES
This will be the tenth overall meeting between the Techsters and Mean Green on the pitch with North Texas holding a 6-1-2 advantage in the all-time series. North Texas is also a perfect 4-0-0 in matches played in Denton.
UNT began the series with three straight wins, all in Denton, before Tech took a 1-0 match in Ruston in 2015.
North Texas picked up another home win the following year before two, 1-1 2OT draws, the second of which came in the C-USA Tournament Semifinals, in Norfolk, Va.
The Mean Green took last year's matchup in Ruston 2-1.
The matchup Saturday night will have seeding implications on the 2022 C-USA Championships with LA Tech sitting in fourth-place at 17 points, with North Texas two points ahead in third.
