RUSTON- With a huge 3-0 sweep over UTSA last Sunday, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team continues their season on the road Wednesday, Oct. 5 against Jackson State at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center in Jackson, Miss.

ABOUT LA TECH (8-10, 2-2 C-USA)
LA Tech heads to Jackson State for a non-conference midweek match-up after their 3-0 (36-34, 28-26, 25-18) victory over USTA on Sunday. During their match on Sunday, the Lady Techsters had a thrilling first set, defeating the Roadrunners 36-34. Andrea Spasojevic finished with five kills in the first set to pair with five from Carla Esquer and Chard'e Vanzandt.
With an early lead in the second set from Roadrunner errors and a kill from Spasojevic, the Lady Techsters were able to maintain their lead to defeat USTA 28-26. In the third set and the momentum high, LA Tech rattled the Roadrunners to produce a 5-0 scoring run off of four USTA errors and a kill by Kalee Cadwell to gain the Lady Techsters were able to use to capture the 25-19 victory in the final set.
The Lady Techsters led 8-3 in service aces, holding UTSA to only one until the third set. Andrea Spaojevic collected her seventh double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs. McKenzie Johnson produced 17 digs and five assists. Morgan Smith ties her season-high record with seven blocks to go along with Imana Ellis setting a season-high with six.
ABOUT JACKSON STATE (3-11, 2-1 SWAC)
Jackson State returns home after their first SWAC road trip of the season against Mississippi Valley State last Friday. The Lady Tigers swept the Devilettes 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-15). Led offensively by Alexis Williams with 11 kills, seven digs, two assists, and one block. Setter, Karys Dover recorded 30 assists, 10 digs, and two aces.
The Lady Tigers won the regular season SWAC Championship in both the Spring 2021 season and the Fall 2021 seasons, winning the program's fourth conference tournament crown in March 2021 and finishing as runners-up in November 2021. JSU made its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in April 2021, and advanced to National Invitational Volleyball Tournament in December 2021.
THE SERIES
The Lady Techsters lead over JSU 21-1 in the previous match-up. The last time the two teams met on Sept. 1, 2021, LA Tech swept 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-19). Jackson State hasn't won a match against the Lady Techsters since 2011 when the Lady Tigers took the match 3-2.
