Three Techsters Named All-Conference USA

Flavie Dube becomes program's first All-Conference Freshman of the Year

RUSTON, La. – Three Louisiana Tech women's soccer team members were named to the All-Conference USA teams, as voted on by the league head coaches. The three All-Conference selections, and five total honors, marks the most in a single season in program history.

Freshman Flavie Dube picked up several honors as she was named the 2022 Conference USA Freshman of the Year, selected to the All-Conference Second Team as a forward, and was one of 11 freshmen named to the All-Freshman Team.

Senior defender Josie Studer picked up her fourth career All-Conference honor as she was selected to the Second-Team, while junior Emma Jones was named Third-Team as a midfielder.

Dube, a product of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, flashed on to the scene for LA Tech, appearing in all 18 matches while making nine starts at the forward position. Dube led the team in goals (5), assists (4), points (14), shots on goal (12) and was second in shots (18).

She scored her first career goal against Northwestern State, then added others at Mississippi State and UTEP where she also registered her first career-assist.

Dube highlighted her season scoring twice in a 4-3 win at Middle Tennessee. She added three more assists, one in each of the final three games of the regular season, which leaves her on a four-game points streak headed into the Conference USA Championships.

Dube is the first player in program history to win Conference Freshman of the Year honors. She joins Emily Cleveland as the only other Freshman of the Year recipient who won the Louisiana Sports Writers Association award in 2005.

Studer proved valuable again on Tech's back line giving the team a massive boost when she returned from injury after missing the entire non-conference portion of the 2022 slate.

The senior captain started each of her 10 matches, logging 885 minutes, while going the distance in eight and played all but 15 minutes of action.

Studer scored the game-winning goal against UTSA on a penalty kick, which boosted a four-game win streak for the Techsters on the way to claim their first Conference USA Tournament bid since 2019.

The Waxhaw, N.C. native was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2019, followed by a Third-Team honor in 2020-21, and was a Second-Team selection following the 2021 season.

Jones, a Hutto, Texas product, returned to the pitch this season after suffering a season-ending ACL injury just six matches into the season after transferring in from Texas State.

She appeared in all 18 matches, making 17 starts, and scored her first of three season goals against Rice. She scored twice in a 2-1 win at FAU, earning her first career Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week honor, and added assists against UAB and North Texas to finish the season on a three-game points streak.

The junior captain logged 1,257 minutes this season, with a season-high 84 minutes played against UTSA. She is tied for second on the team in goals (3) and shots on goal (10), and was third in assists (2) and points (8).

LA Tech finished the regular season unbeaten in five of their final six matches to claim the No. 4 seed heading into the 2022 Conference USA Championships where they will face FAU on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 3:30 p.m. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
