
Lady Techsters Host UTSA for Senior Day

RUSTON- After a big win on Thursday night, the Louisiana Tech volleyball team set to face UTSA at Thomas Assembly Center for their final home of the season on Saturday. LA Tech will honor three of its seniors.

ABOUT LA TECH (11-17, 4-9 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming into Saturday's match over a huge 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-22) victory over FIU on Thursday night. Chard'e Vanzandt led the Lady Techsters with 15 kills while swinging a .452 hitting percentage off of 31 attacks. Andrea Spasojevic added her ninth double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs as well as two aces.
Sophomore middle blocker, Ashley Taylor, produced six of the eight Lady Techster blocks in the match giving her 57 on the season. Morgan Smith continues to lead LA Tech with 69.
Along with Vanzandt and Spasojevic, Sydney Jackwin also collected double-digit kills with 11 to pair with her new career high of three aces. Two Lady Techster setters produced double-digit assists, Kalee Cadwell with 23 and Ashley Jones with 20.
The Lady Techtsers is currently ranked at No.3 for team digs with 1,075 led by McKenzie Johnson totaling 396.
ABOUT UTSA (7-18, 2-11 C-USA)
UTSA enters Saturday's match after falling to UTEP 3-1 on Thursday. Cansu Gunaydin led the Roadrunner offensively with seven kills followed by Hunter Coppola and Kelsey Carpenter with six each.
Defensive specialist, Ava Camacho, is leading the Roadrunner with 397 digs giving her the No.5 spot in C-USA. Gunaydin is leading UTSA with 257 kills and 289.5 points.
THE SERIES
UTSA leads over LA Tech 15-3. The Lady Techsters defeated UTSA 3-0 in their previous match-up this earlier season on Oct. 2 in San Antonio. LA Tech needs the final victory over the Road Runners to potentially earn a spot in the C-USA tournament for the first time since joining in 2013.
