RUSTON – Louisiana Tech picked up its second straight victory over an in-state opponent as they shutout McNeese State, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
 
LA Tech (4-2) grabbed the momentum from the start, thanks to Najah Dawson and Ilana Tetruashvili winning all six games to cruise to a 6-0 win over Yukina Abe and Luna Jokanovic on court two.
 
After McNeese State (0-5) broke serve to even things up at 4-4 on court one, Leonie Schuknecht and Ana Rodrigues broke back and then served it out to clinch the doubles point with a 6-4 victory.
 
The Lady Techsters jumped out to a commanding lead on all six singles courts to continue their momentum.  Rodrigues was up 4-0 at the No.4 position on her opponent Jokanovic who ended up retiring due to injury. 
 
The Cowgirls had another retirement at the No. 2 spot when Aina Domingo-Bernabe retired as well due to injury.  Olga Bienzobas was the recipient of the win as she was up 6-5 in the first set.
 
It was a race to see who could grab the clinching point as Schuknecht, Dawson, Tetruashvili and Alexia Romero were all up a set in their respective matches.  It ended up being Tetruashvili who delivered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Abe on court five.

"Proud of the team today. We really looked good on the things we worked on this week. We were good point builders and took advantage when we were inside th court to finish the points. Our two doubles team really came out strong today. Getting them in sync with each other was a goal this week and today they set each other up really well. Following up on our big win against ULM with a sweep today was a good step mentally for us. Our team is talented and it's important for us to find a way to be consistent in our performances. We did that today and the result followed on all lines."

• LA Tech extended its home winning streak to three.They have now won seven of their last eight home matches.
• LA Tech improved to 11-6 this season in doubles.Leonie Schuknecht and Ana Rodrigues won their fourth straight at the No. 1 position and improved to 5-1 on the spring.
• For the first time this season, the singles lineup had a change.Najah Dawson played at No. 3 while Ana Rodrigues played at No. 4.
• Ilana Tetruashvili improved to 5-1 in singles, having won four straight.
