LAKE CHARLES, La. – Louisiana Tech got back into the win column Friday night with a 21-5 victory over McNeese State at Joe Miller Ballpark.
Jonathan Fincher earned the win, and the Bulldogs hitters slugged six home runs.
LA Tech (6-4) used an explosive outburst to defeat McNeese State (7-3) on offense Friday night in its big win Friday night.
Jorge Corona was just a single shy of the cycle after three at-bats while
Wade Elliott fell short of the cycle needing a triple. Six different Bulldog hitters had multi-hit games and two had four-hit games (
Cole McConnell and
Wade Elliott).
The Bulldogs tallied a six-run fourth inning, a four-run fifth inning, a two-run seventh inning and a six-run ninth inning en route to victory.
Bulldog second baseman,
Wade Elliott, recorded a spectacular night at the plate going 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, a single, a walk and five RBI. LA Tech center fielder,
Cole McConnell, was 4-for-6 at the plate with a home run, three singles and five RBI.
Jorge Corona collected a double, home run and triple in his first three at-bats, leading the Bulldog offense early on.
Steele Netterville was 1-for-4 with a bases clearing one-out three RBI double down the right field line that blew the game open in the fourth inning.
Ben Brantley also tallied two hits in tonight's victory.
LA Tech ace,
Jonathan Fincher, showed his dominance once again on the mound. He recorded a career high 11 strikeouts in six innings pitched while only allowing one earned run on a solo shot from Peyton Johnson. Fincher struck out the side in the second inning. He now moves to 3-0 on the young season.
