LA Tech Opens Series With Old Dominion Friday Night

The Bulldogs and Monarchs begin the series Friday at 5 p.m. CT

NORFOLK, Va. – Louisiana Tech is set to travel to Old Dominion for the seventh conference series of 2022 beginning Friday night at 5 p.m. CT at Bud Metheny Baseball Stadium.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (28-14, 12-6 C-USA)
LA Tech is coming off of two straight losses coming from Little Rock Wednesday night and the series finale against Middle Tennessee in extra innings.
 
Bulldog right fielder Steele Netterville leads the team in home runs with 11 as he launched another long ball in Wednesday night's ball game at Little Rock. The three-hole was 3-for-4 with a double as well, inching closer to the all-time program record. Netterville sits at 57 with T.J. Soto holding the record at 58.
 
Taylor Young leads the squad in nine different hitting categories. The senior shortstop also leads the conference with 55 runs scored and sits at tied for fifth in the nation. Young also leads the conference in walks (36) and triples (4).
 
Adarius Myers is back in the lineup for the Bulldogs after sitting out this past weekend against Middle Tennessee with a slight fracture in his hand. Myers went 2-for-4 at the plate on Wednesday with a walk in the six hole.

ABOUT OLD DOMINION (28-10, 10-8 C-USA)
Old Dominion rolls into the weekend having won three out of their last four games taking their last conference series two out of three games over Florida Atlantic in Norfolk. 
 
The Monarchs sit at number two in the country in home runs as a team with 88. First baseman Matt Coutney is tied for first in the nation with 21 homers thus far. Coutney earned C-USA Hitter of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
 
Four different Monarch hitters have tallied double digit home runs including senior outfielder Andy Garriola who has 18. Six different hitters have batting averages over the .300 mark.

THE SERIES
The Bulldogs and Monarchs will meet for the 22nd time on Friday night with Old Dominion leading the all-time series 12-9. LA Tech and Old Dominion met three times last year including the Conference USA Tournament Championship. The Monarchs took all three of the games in 2021. The last time the two schools met in Norfolk, the Monarchs took two out of three games.
